The Schenectady Curling Club will be hosting the eighteenth annual 10 & Under Bonspiel on December 9 - 11, 2022, and you're cordially invited to join us. This is a great opportunity to get your teams involved in early season competition.
For those not familiar with this event, eligibility is limited to individuals with ten or fewer years of curling experience, which provides the opportunity for curlers to compete with teams of similar skill and experience. Among others, participants will include those who have aged out of the Francis Dykes, Elisabeth Childs and Raymond Kayser (5 &Under) competitions, along with competitors honing their skills in preparation for future Dykes, Childs & Kayser events.
The draw has been set to accomodate no more then 24 rinks, so please don't delay in submitting your entry. The 10 & Under Bonspiel is structured to offer sufficient ice time while still providing ample time to socialize with old and new friends alike. A minimum of 4 games are guaranteed for all participating rinks. All meals are covered by the rink fee, including Friday's buffet dinner; Saturday's breakfast, lunch and our famous grilled tenderloin fillet steak dinner; and a full Sunday brunch and drink specials throughout the weekend. As tradition, SCC will be hosting the "Make or Miss" game during Friday night's last two draws,with the winning rink having their entry fee returned to them, in cash. You have to play to win, and to win this one, you must be either in the SCC warm room or on the ice during those games.
With a 24-rink draw, we anticipate play will start at 9 AM on Friday. If we have fewer than 24 teams, the first draw will happen in the afternoon or early evening. Out-of-town rinks will be offered access to the latest available draw times. Sunday's five final events will include 20 rinks, with the event Finals starting at 11:30 AM. The A-event champs (the Brooks Memorial) & the B-event's winning rink (the Tom Garber Memorial) will have their names engraved on their respective trophies, allowing bragging rights for years to come. Finalists in the top four events will be awarded pins.
Returning skips: To reserve your spot, be sure to submit your application no later than Wednesday, 11/19/2022.
To all: If you do plan to attend, but don't yet have a full rink, please submit a partial application, and re-submit the completed application when you do have a full rink. Returning skips' applications will be accepted first, if received by 11/19/2022, followed by other entries in the order they are received. SCC will confirm that your application has been accepted before depositing your check.
