After an 18 month hiatus, nine Schenectady women curlers dusted off their curling shoes and brooms to 'sweep' victory at the Utica-Schenectady-Albany Friendly Bonspiel on November 13, 2021. Albany Curling Club hosted the annual one day point spiel at which everyone enjoyed a fun day of curling, eating, and catching up with longtime curling friends. The SCC teams consisted of Laura Dolins, Raquel Hillis, Fay Navratil, Emily Ciuk, and Paula Lancaster, Andrea Warr, Ashlyn Hillis, and Kathy Brown/Caitlin Janiszewski (who shared a position). Schenectady's Dorothy Szymaszek cheered the teams on to victory. The SCC teams scored 49.75 points, while Utica and Albany scored 23.25 and 12.75 points respectively. A big thank you to Albany's Cathleen Schiraldi and team for hosting a wonderful event. Next year's U-S-A Friendly will be hosted by the Utica Curling Club with Schenectady the year after.
Congrats Ladies!
